Student
Nurses Graduate from Mineral Area College
May 12, 2012
Mineral Area College students in the Associate Degree
Nursing program graduated in pinning ceremonies held May
4 at the Centene Center in Farmington.
Pastor Brad Crocker gave the invocation, while the students,
along with their family and friends, were welcomed by
MAC Vice President of College Affairs Gil Kennon. Allied
Health Director Teri Douglas presided over the ceremonies.
Dr. Rhonda Gamble was the keynote speaker. Gamble has
taught at Mineral Area College since 1982. She earned
her Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences from Oklahoma State
University in 1984. In the MAC nursing program, she teaches
classes in human anatomy, human physiology and microbiology.
Many nursing graduates have completed these courses with
honors. Gamble said she enjoys encouraging students to
conduct research projects and to discover how to measure
changes in the human body as well as in a bacterial culture.
Gamble is a member of the American Association for the
Advancement of Science and the Human Anatomy and Physiology
Society, and was the Mineral Area College recipient of
the Governor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 1997.
